Matt Aptman is a Managing Director and Head of Business Development at Starboard Value LP.  He joined Starboard in December 2025, following his role as Head of Business Development & Strategy at Fir Tree Partners.  Previously, Mr. Aptman served as Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Incline Global Management and as Head of Business Development at Impala Asset Management.  He was the founder of Everglades Partners, a strategy and business development consultancy serving general partners across the alternative investment landscape.  Mr. Aptman began his buy-side career in 2004 at John W. Henry & Company.  Mr. Aptman serves on the Board of Trustees of Middlebridge School, a boarding school for college-bound teenagers who learn differently.  Further, he holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Florida.
