Lindsey Cara is General Counsel of Starboard Value LP. She is responsible for overseeing all legal, regulatory, compliance, and human resources matters for the firm. Ms. Cara joined Starboard in April 2016 and served as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer from 2017 to 2025.

As General Counsel, Ms. Cara works closely with the firm’s principals and other senior leadership on fund structuring and formation, portfolio company investments, governance matters, legal documentation, compliance policies and procedures, marketing materials, regulatory filings, and employment and human capital matters. She advises on regulatory strategy and firmwide operational risk and oversees the Chief Compliance Officer in the administration of the firm’s compliance program.

Prior to joining Starboard, Ms. Cara was a member of the legal and compliance team at Protégé Partners, LLC. She previously practiced in the Investment Funds, Advisers, and Derivatives group at Sidley Austin LLP, where she advised investment advisers and fund sponsors on regulatory, fund formation, and compliance matters. Ms. Cara received her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and her B.A., cum laude, in Political Science and Spanish from Bucknell University.
